Description:

Deciduos shrub/multi-trunked small tree if shaped. Yellow fall color, fast growth with water& N when young, regular deep watering.


Garden Notes: New Mexico Privet is a nice, drought tolerant shrub. Occasional water can help appearance, but is rarely a necessity. It is one of those plants that will survive, looking nice all the while with little additional water. With little additional water it stays smaller.

Description:

Garden Notes: Listed as a forage plant for deer,rabbits etc in winter. Mine has never been nibbled on. Not particularly showy, but it is extremely tough. Good for a small addition to a native bed.

Description:

Good shrub, small tree for hummingbirds. Reseeds readily. Nuisance in flower beds due to reseeding. It tends to come up in the middle of other plants and is difficult to remove due to its deep tap root. Okay surrounded by grass. Little water.

Description:

Lovely dwarf plant.Silvery foliage on shorter plant. Nice and compact. Smaller, silvery leaves. Very similar to Nanhoe Blue.


Garden Notes: This is becoming one of my favorite plants. It makes a nice bush with nearly evergreen leaves. It has a more refined look to it than most other Buddleias.

Description:

Excellent shrub, prune to 12" in spring. Fast growth to 6-8ft. Fragrant lilac-like blooms summer to frost without deadheading.


Garden Notes: This variety is seed grown- collected from plants that have been growing locally. It is the fastest growing, most robust variety I have. It does very well with minimal water once established. Water deeply when watering. Great for a variety of butterflies.

Description:

Bright orange tubular flowers, long mid summer to fall bloom. Drought tolerant. Dies back in winter, cut back to ground in spring. This plant serves as the larval host for a beautiful native butterfly called the Vesta Crescent.


Garden Notes: Great plant! Starts blooming end of July till cooler days of fall. Hummingbirds love it and butterflies feed on nectar as well. Throws seed several feet to get new plants, not hard to remove.

Deciduous 6-8 ft shrub. Purple flowers, Butterflies. Purported to be a larval host plant for the Orange Sulphur butterfly.


Garden Notes: Native to PH- sandy soils along streams. I have had it for six years and have not had a volunteer on my clay soil. Rapid seed spread along waters edge. Little to no seed spread in drier growing conditions. Easy to grow in yard settings.
