Garden Notes: Biennial? Mine has died after blooming the second year. May just be the conditions I give it. Has a very nice dusky-orange bloom.

Description:

Shrub. Wooly-white seed heads in winter. Dried flower. Shrub. Wooly-white seedheads in winter. Dried flower. A nearly no care plant, great for the rock or prairie garden


Garden Notes: Listed as a forage plant for deer,rabbits etc in winter. Mine has never been nibbled on. Not particularly showy, but it is extremely tough. Good for a small addition to a native bed.

Description:

Native tree, birds love seed, gets a gall that diminishes looks. Will reseed itself in garden from bird droppings.


Garden Notes: Hackberry is a very tough native tree. It is gangly looking when young. Keep pruning up branches for tree. Not the most refined looking tree, but it is a good selection for outlying areas.

Garden Notes: This variety makes more of a ball-shaped plant. Reseeds nicely for some new plants here and there.
