Common Name: Big Bend Silverleaf
Bloom Color: Blue/Purple
Bloom Season: Summer
Description:
A more cold tolerant variety than Leucophyllum frutescens- it has smaller leaves, but a nice grey appearance in the garden. It retains gray color through winter. The Leucophyllums are known as Barometer Plants. They have bright purple blooms with rain in summer. It has been a very long-lived plant for me in fully exposed locations. The addition of its purple flowers after a rain makes it a very nice plant to have in a garden with nearly no additional water or care.
Type: Perennial
Ideal Sun Conditions: Full Sun
Height: 36"
Width: 36"
Garden Notes:
Big Bend Silverleaf is a nice compact shrub so it will fit nicely in a more modest sized garden. Do not fertilize excessively or water much. Too much water in our clay soils may be lethal.
